  2. Hi all – we just wanted to let you know about some changes coming …

As you will be aware, DoingFlorida is currently spread across two different sites; DoingFlorida.com and DoingFloridaForums.com. We will soon be changing this so that everything will be together under one site; DoingFlorida.com.

The vast majority of our members and visitors already view our daily news on the main DoingFlorida.com site (or via our Facebook page) rather than on the forum. From this week, the daily news will appear only on the main DoingFlorida.com site, and this forum will shortly be closed down. We want to thank all our members for your fantastic support over the past eleven years, it has been great to get to know so many fellow Florida fans! If you would be interested in joining a DoingFlorida Facebook Group please let us know - it would be great to keep the community together - we will start a thread in the Members Forum so you can let us know what you think.

It's the end of an era but the start of a new one and we very much hope you will join us!

Best Wishes from the DoingFlorida Team

Looking for a bit of advice, this is our 4th visit to florida but looking for something different this time. We always stay in I drive (2 adults) and don't drive. Looking to stay one night in a disney or nearby hotel to give maximun benefit of disney without high transport costs.
So my Q is which hotel is going to be better and were is the cheapest place to get a 2 day park hopper ticket as we will only goto DHS animal kingdom DTD and maybe epcot broadway, we don't do the big rides so think this is doable?

    many thanks

The new Art of Animation Resort is a budget and looks good. If you want to go up to a moderate then Port Orleans is nice. You have Disney transport to the parks and there's also a boat to take you to DTD. It's a nice relaxing journey - you dock by Cap'n Jack's Restaurant/Rain Forest Cafe. :D

Welcome to the forum.....we always stay at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista resort next door to Downtown Disney, can highly recommend it. It takes only a few minutes to walk to DTD and they have free Transport to the Disney parks, like you, we dont drive and have found this to be a perfect position. Crossroads is only a 15 walk up the road, where there are many restaurants and Pirates Cove. if you need any more information I will be happy to answer any questions. :) The 2 day park hopper I would check prices on the www.mapleleaftickets.com.

Did someone say the buses from DTD dont got to the parks now? You have to go to 1 of the hotels and from there to the parks or was I dreaming it?

We like Pop Century as a value hotel. Cheap (ish) and cheerful. Book direct with Disney, its often cheaper than as part of a package. I'd say you will need 2 nights for all you want to do.

If your going to Epcot you can take the Disney transport to Boardwalk and take the short walk around the lake and into Epcot
    Enjoy!

You are right the buses from DTD only go to the Disney hotels and then onto the parks.

What 's the easiest/quickest hotel to get a connection from Sharon? Would it be Boardwalk for DHS and Epcot then through Epcot onto the monorail for MK?

It's quicker to get the bus from The Boardwalk to MK than go through Epcot and get the monorail, and there's always the temptation to stop in Epcot and do something there on the way through.

You could get the bus to the Boardwalk, or Yacht club, Beach Club, Swan or Dolphin any of them are easy to get to DHS or Epcot. As for MK I would get the bus to Grand Floridian or Polynesian and get monorail in from there, that would probably be the quickest way.

You could of course get on the first bus that comes and just change to a park bus at that hotel. Why are you all making it so complicated? :D

hi musthava, welcome to the site, if you really want a disney hotel then the new animation one looks pretty good and is a budget hotel, but i kind of agree with sharon, the wyndham is walking distance to downtown disney, has its own transport to the parks, and you dont pay disney prices, ive stayed there too and its very nice

Welcome! Both Pop Century and Art of Animation are close to DHS and DTD and the Allstars are close to AK, I've stayed at Pop and Movies and are both Value hotels with great theming, but maybe Sharon's suggestion would suit you better. I would maybe look at a two night stay, giving you a bit more time as you can't check in until 2 or 3 and check out 10am (if I remember correctly?).

Welcome to the forum must have florida fix, you could stay on the i-drive and then book in a Disney hotel for a few days like i am doing at christmas. Allstars movies is good along with the Pop Century and not too expensive as you only pay for the room and not for each person:)

Here's the quickest way to get from DDT to:

Magic Kingdom: Go to Contemporary & walk to MK
Epcot & HS: Go to Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk & walk
Animal Kingdom: You cant walk to this park from any hotel, so option is go to one of the other parks & get a bus there to AK
